About The Film

Furious Love was conceived before Darren Wilson had even finished his first film, Finger of God. He was in Istanbul, Turkey, and Heidi Baker, a missionary from Mozambique, began to pray for him. In the midst of her prayer, she suddenly saw, in her spirit, Darren filming the occult and demonic. The the Lord gave her this word for Darren: “You must go into the darkness to show the light.” Neither Darren or Heidi had the slightest clue what any of this might mean, and the last thing on Darren’s mind at that point was a “sequel” to Finger of God, which he still had yet to even put together!

Two months later, while in an otherwise normal church service, Darren was literally pushed back into his seat with the second part of God’s call to him. He heard, very distinctly, God tell him to do two things with this film:

  1. show the world the reality of the war between darkness and light
  2. show the world that the only way we can win this war is through love

That was it. Darren had his marching orders. But first, he had to make Finger of God.

Finger of God was released in late December, 2007. Darren had no marketing plan, no financial backers, and no distributers who were even remotely interested. He put it online, and word of mouth began to turn his strange, little film into an underground hit in the truest sense of the word. To date it has sold more than 60,000 copies, and has been seen by millions of people around the world.

The success of Finger of God opened up the possibility for Darren to move forward in his next production: Furious Love.

Darren and his faithful crew of two, Braden Heckman and Matt Bilen, began filming Furious Love in July, 2008, in Tanzania. The only direction Darren had for the film was to accomplish the two things he knew the Lord had told him to do. The reality of the war should be easy enough to show, but how does one film love? How does one translate the devastating effects of unconditional love from God onto a screen? This was the question that haunted Darren and his crew everywhere they went, and so they just delved further into the darkness, hoping at each stop that God would prove Himself faithful and that He would show up when the cameras were rolling. They were ever cognizant that if God did not show up, they had no film.

Filming was completed in August, 2009. With a budget pushing $300,000 and a growing expectation from the Finger of God fan base, Darren and his crew knew they had to deliver something that was at least equal to Finger of God. They knew they had some incredible footage and stories (over 200 hours worth), but how to put it all together? From August to October, Darren locked himself away in his studio in an effort to allow the Holy Spirit to guide him through telling the story of God’s immense love for a very dark, very sinful world. It was the most strenuous spiritual experience he had ever gone through. When he emerged, and after his crew had come in to put a polish and sheen on the film, they knew they had just created something very special.

The Lord also put on Darren’s heart in late 2009 to start a new form of distribution for Christian films, with Furious Love being the forerunner. He was told, quite clearly, to “turn churches into movie theaters.” Partnering with Sondra Martin Hicks and Heartstone Pictures, that’s exactly what they did. On February 14, 2010, Furious Love was unveiled to the world in over 500 churches in 19 countries.

The response has been, in a word, overwhelming. Feel free to visit our PRESS page or our TESTIMONIES page to find out more about the reaction to this incredible film.

Testimonies

  • "Furious Love is a glimpse into the actual message that Jesus lived. This film captures His message in such a way that it is sure to stir the hearts of millions, releasing them into the great harvest fields with an authentic gospel of power, purity, and love. For that reason I highly recommend Furious Love to everyone. It will strengthen the local church and increase our impact on the world."Bill Johnson, Senior Pastor, Bethel Church, Redding California
  • "Furious Love produced by Darren Wilson truly captures the heart of God’s amazing, outrageous, love for the bound, the hurt, the suffering...well, actually - for all! I love this documentary. You will too."Patricia King, XPmedia.com
  • "Darren Wilson’s Furious Love is a powerful and moving challenge to the church today. When it comes to engaging the spiritual forces of darkness in our culture and world, far too often and in far too many ways we have been on the sidelines rather than in the battle. We have largely abdicated the supernatural realm to the occultists and new agers, rather than appropriating the fullness of God’s Spirit and walking in God’s radical love and power. Furious Love is not for kids, nor for the squeamish adults among us. It will shake you, wake you up, make you uncomfortable. But that is good and necessary, if we are ever going to rise up in faith and venture outside the four walls of our churches. Furious Love is an urgent call to walk in radical love and in the demonstration of the Spirit’s power as we confront the powers of darkness and touch a needy world for the glory of God. It is a must-see movie."Dr. Clay Ford, National Chair, Holy Spirit Renewal Ministries
  • "Furious Love is more than a documentary, it’s a supernatural journey into the very heart of the Father. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat as Darren Wilson takes you on the adventure of a lifetime. This film is like a National Geographic documentary on the Kingdom of Heaven. It brilliantly captures the intrinsic nature and indispensable quality of God’s love distributed through His epic power. You won’t be bored!"Kris Vallotton, Co-Founder of Bethel School Of Supernatural Ministry, Redding California
  • "..minutes into the film I was hooked and what followed was one of the best experiences I have ever had watching a film. I LOVE THIS FILM. It says things I have felt for years, wanted to say but never could get it right, and here I see it acted out. Most of the stories are incredibly compelling and anointed with the Truth of Christ."Ken
  • "Finger of God was an answered prayer. ‘Furious Love’ was the answer to MANY prayers. I cannot begin to even express what these movies have done to my life and to those around me, and I will continue to make sure that they spread like wildfire throughout Sydney churches. Why? Because it is the all-consuming fire of God’s furious love."Naomi, Australia
  • "We did 4 showings here in Nanaimo, BC (Canada) and had a great response. People cried and were deeply touched, many saying they felt like selling everything and going to the world. Our youth group is encouraged to reach out more to the sex workers and the drug addicts and to love furiously, everyone around us. Thanks for both movies and keep doing more. We need them!!"Diego
  • "The Lord showed me that a good movie will evoke emotions, but Furious Love invoked the presence of God."Marty, Director, Goleta Valley Healing Rooms
  • "There was a lot of cheering afterwards at the church I where I saw it. I loved so much of the film, and am so happy to hear that salvations are occurring because of it. Wonderful, wonderful. It’s awesome that this movie exists. I thank God for His Love and leading you, Darren, to do this film (and Finger of God) and that you answered." Denise
  • "My young N.A. teens, husband and I watched “Finger of God” just now to prepare for the “Love Bomb” (Furious Love) tomorrow night. We have been sitting on the outside of the reality – in doubt and unbelief. We say yes to God and are jumping in with two feet. My very conservative home is getting ripped apart for the Lord and are ready and willing. Move us for You, oh Lord! Thank you for making this…and “going” for many of us who will never be able."Jina
  • "This movie absolutely wrecked me in Love!! I was sitting there watching it sobbing. To see that God just simply wants to love people. The people that so many point fingers at and judge because they are acting out of rebellion towards God…yet when Gods love comes, it’s undeniable!! This movie literally changed my life in how I view God’s love towards His people and myself. It shifted mindsets that I have had!!! EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS!! GET OUT THE KLEENEX THOUGH!!!"Kymberly
  • "I’m so grateful for a movie that expresses so much of what I experience of our awesome God and have wanted others to know about but not always knowing how to describe. God’s love is so much more than what we think it is and goes further than what we can ever dream. This movie will touch your heart and show many people a side of God’s love that they maybe have never experienced before or thought was real."Ashlee
  • "I cried the entire movie. From the very beginning of the film something gripped my heart and soul and it continued to shred every piece of me until the credits rolled. Having struggled deeply with the demonic realm my entire life and just reaching my one year mark free from the constant oppression of depression, this film hit home hard. I realized that God’s love is bigger than any manifestation and I now have a story to tell; a responsibility to carry out. I honestly thought that I knew what God had planned for me to do with my life. But He kind of dropped a bomb on me during this film: “Can you love others, even when they don’t love you back?” This seems like a simple request, but yet it is so powerful. To give up everything for the sake of Christ and love others to the utmost. Somewhere in my 18 years of being a pastors kid I missed that part of the gospel. Thank you for this wonderful film!"Cayla
  • "This movie is extremely anointed. I was radically touched by God’s presence as I watched it last night. The movie is crazy awesome! I LOVE IT!! Today I invited my brother to watch it with me again. I have not spoken with my brother in weeks as he has been out of touch on drug binges. Well, he answered the phone today. He came over and watched Furious Love! I know the transforming power of God’s love was imparted to him. Thank you"Michelle
  • "Hi, First I apologize for the fake name and address. I must do this due to the content I am about to discuss. i hope you post regardless. The movie was great! It is awesome how you show how God is interested in what many times the church has cast off. Personally I have struggled with one question for a month or so. It was shortly after I was involved in discovering the bodies of young children that had been murdered by their own parent. In law enforcement, i get to see a lot of darkness. After this recent case I have been asking God about the person responsible for this crime. I feel inside, the war, the war that tells me that God still loves this man, and the war that tells me that this guy has gone to far, turned to for from God to ever come back. Your movie hammered home the point that the war is not against the people that God loves. The enemy may destroy their lives but the war is always between me and the enemy, Not the people he has managed to control… God loves them! Thank you!"Joe
  • "Wow, that was life-changing. You simply cannot watch Furious Love and carry on with your life as normal. I couldn’t believe how hungry people were for God’s love, in Indonesia when they just ran to the stage as though their lives depended on it. Got me sobbing. In our churches people are too shy to go to the front, because they’re too concerned about what others may say. Brilliant work. Oh God help me to love more as you love…"Antony
  • "Straight from the heart of God. It had me gripped from the very start, even the title! It feels like this is exactly what God is saying to His bride. Overwhelmingly powerful and full of compassion. A masterpiece of raw Love with no frills, bold yet gentle and pure. I absolutely loved it. Potentially life-changing…potentially world-changing. Thank you so much"Patrick
  • "WOW! This movie is insanely eye opening to the injustice of darkness that has spread throughout the world. It fires you up incredibly to go and bring love and light to displace it. I guarantee you, that you will be moved deeply by this movie and God loves that is shown so deeply throughout."James
  • "This movie rocked my world! It just blew me away! I couldn’t stop thinking about what I had seen all day today and I wanted to tell everyone I met about the way it changed my heart! My heart’s cry after watching this is: “God give me people to love. Put people in my path that need you and show up in your power!” I’m a missionary in South America and would love to show this to the others I work with-they’ll be radically changed!"Rebekah
  • "This film rocked my world and altered my expectations of myself and the church forever. Without this component in our lives – as individuals – and in our churches, we are wasting our time. It is time to wake up. God must be so pleased with the sons and daughters already out there being and bringing His heart. Thank you for bringing this film to the world. It has birthed passion, desire, purpose and focus in me. Thank you!"Annelise
  • "I saw your film I was completely blown away any religious thoughts that I still had vanished! I felt a new season in my life has begun and a fresh new flow of faith has come upon me to believe for greater things! HIS WORD OF TRUTH HAS JUST BECOME MORE REAL! PERFECT LOVE CAST OUT ALL FEAR!"Grace, WA
  • "Thanks for making the film Darren! It has totally changed the way I live. It’s much, much easier to go up to people and ask if they want prayer now, I’m not even kidding. God is so amazing. Love sounds so cliche in the church sometimes but we need it and the world needs to know God’s love."Sam
  • "I watched it and saw the love of God, how he didn’t reject, judge or look down on the witches and the demon possessed, and how blind and innocent many of the people involved in evil were. What I ultimately got from that movie was that God is bigger than any devil, than all evil and that we do not need to fear them or the ones they use in the darkest places, but that if we could just love them, we would be able to see a change. Thank God."Alisha
  • "Growing up in religion all my life powerless and then being set free from it for the last few years has brought me to awaken to a newness of life never imagined before……. but then you run into stuff like this and you can’t sleep at night just thinking God there is so much more why do we complicate the gospel so that not even we believe it? God bless you for this remarkable “wetting of our appetites” ……. This film truly captures not only the Finger of God but his Heart!!!!!!! You have certainly let God use you to bring about a hunger only He can fulfill!!!!"Nina, WA
  • "The film was moving, confrontational, and edifying!"Joshua

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. What is this movie about?A. Furious Love, quite simply, is about one man’s journey into the heart of darkness to try and find out if God’s love can really overcome anything. It is one thing to know in your head that God loves you, but I wanted to try to make a film that moved that knowledge from the head to the heart. So we traveled all over the world and met a wide variety of ministries and people working in these dark places, and we saw God move in ways that simply need to be seen to be believed.
  • Q. When you say “darkness”, what do you mean?A. Well, the easiest way to answer this question is to simply tell you what kinds of things are in the film. We filmed former satanists, prostitutes, the persecuted church, heroin addicts, people involved in witchcraft, new age, demon possessed, etc... If I was going to put God’s love to the test, I wanted to put up a good fight. Of course, He completely obliterated the darkness we encountered every time, as you will see...
  • Q. I didn’t agree with everything in Finger of God. Should I be nervous about this film?A. I realize that there are some things in Finger of God that make some people very nervous (particularly the first 15 minutes). Trust me, I understand! But this film, while it is a sequel, is not Finger of God 2; it’s not about chasing miracles. It is about chasing God’s love. It is about understanding, on a very deep and profound level, the true nature of God’s love for all of us. We have had a few early screenings of the film to a variety of people of different faith backgrounds, and so far every single person is walking away from this film touched in a very deep, almost haunting way. We’re beginning to realize that this movie isn’t so much as a piece of entertainment as it is an experience in and of itself. Should you be nervous? Maybe, but not for the reasons you might be thinking. In the end, you may not agree with everything you see in the film, but that shouldn’t be something to be frightened of. My hope is that our films will be used to strengthen people’s faith in a God who is powerful and who loves them immeasurably. If something in the film causes you pause, we encourage everyone to look to the Bible, the ultimate authority, for answers.

There is a great quote in the film from a pastor who says, “Truth is not a teaching. Truth is a person.” For Christians, we can disagree about a lot of stuff, and we probably always will, but the core of this film should cause no Christian any pause. The core of the film states, very simply, that Jesus is Lord, that He loves us all way more than we love Him, and that we are called to love those around us. That is ultimately what Furious Love is about.

  • Q. Can I show this film in my church if I own the DVD?A. If you wish to show Furious Love in your church or any public venue, please go through our distribution partner, Heartstone Pictures, to obtain the right to do so. We have created an entirely new way of public distribution for this film, and it benefits both our company and your church. While we realize some people may balk at having to do anything “official” to have a showing, please keep in mind that to show almost any other major film, you will need to actually PAY the production company or distributor for that right, and you will receive no financial compensation in return. Under our new system, everybody wins, and the kingdom is advanced both spiritually and financially. Also keep in mind that this particular film cost a lot of money to make, and that Wanderlust is committed to making more movies like this that will hopefully touch your spirit as well. By not stealing from us, you are helping make that goal a reality.
  • Q. Is this film appropriate for children? A. Probably not. Mature children should be able to handle it, but I would advise against too many kids under 10 watching it. There is some very heavy stuff in this film--these are real people undergoing real, and sometimes horrific events. Parental discretion is definitely advised.
  • Q. Will I get a chance to preview this film before I show it to my church?A. Absolutely. Our distribution partner, Heartstone Pictures, will be providing each church with posters, tickets, and promo materials, and the pastors of each host church will get the film two weeks ahead of time to make sure this is a film they want their congregation to see. There will be no penalty if your church backs out once you’ve seen it.
  • Q. Does this film promote a particular agenda?A. Yes it does. The agenda is this: to show that there is a war going on all around us (spiritual, ideas, demonic) and that the only way we can win this war is through love.
  • Q. Do I have to charge people to show this film? What’s the deal with how you’re distributing it?A. If you agree to host this event, yes, you will need to charge people at the door to see the film. We understand that at first glance, this may rub a few churches the wrong way. Why not, for instance, just charge a license fee and be done with it?

Currently, a Christian filmmaker has one of two options when they make a film: 1) go straight to DVD; or, 2) get Hollywood to show their film in theaters (which is next to impossible for most filmmakers, let alone Christian filmmakers). Even if you do get the film picked up by a major distributor, you are handcuffed by their rules, and Hollywood gets the vast majority of the profits. We want to change the rules.

By turning churches into movie theaters, we are, in effect, creating a brand new system of distribution. We no longer have to play by the rules of Hollywood. We bring empowerment back to the filmmaker, as well as the audience. Now, you have another option on Friday night instead of having to choose from the 10 movies at your local theater.

Obviously, by using this distribution method, the rate of return for the filmmaker is much, much higher than any other model currently in existence. But more importantly, the host church also becomes a part of the model, because they will be able to keep 1/3 of the gross for each film they show, thus bringing in a new, much needed revenue stream to help with ministries, building improvements, missions, etc... Everybody wins: the filmmaker, the church, and the viewing public.

So while it may feel a little odd at first, please understand that this decision is not in the least way motivated by greed. Movies cost a lot of money to make, and filmmakers need revenue to make more movies that you want to see. By charging admission, you are not feeding the greed of a broken system, but you are instead helping to launch a brand new, God-centered system of entertainment.

Shampa Rice ("Shanti" from the film)

Shampa RiceShampa Rice was raised in Calcutta, living across the street from Mother Teresa’s headquarters from the age of 12, Shampa was often inspired by her faith and simplicity. She prayed that God would raise her out of poverty so that she too could someday help the poor as Mother Teresa was doing. God heard her cries above and beyond anything she could have dreamed; eventually she would be reaching people all over the world with God’s love.

One of Shampa’s favorite themes is that God likes to use simple, “little people.” “I love to cook. I am a woman from the kitchen,” she says. “God is not looking for someone important; He's looking for anybody who loves Him because He wants to be found more than we want to find Him.”

Shampa has been the director for Iris Ministries in North India since 2005.
